Celebrity Ferrari and supercar collector Jay Kay, of Jamiroquai fame, has a garage that is the envy of most people. A long-time collector of classy machinery, he has decided to auction two of his Ferrari collection.
Silverstone Auctions will hold a special Ferrari Owner’s Club GB sale on May 18th, and any serious collector is strongly advised to make sure they are in attendance.
Original Supercar
The headline car from the Jay Kay collection is one he considers his very first supercar: a gunmetal grey, 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello. Now achieving classic status, this fine example has covered fewer than 14,000 miles in the last 20-years under his ownership, and is said to be in pristine condition.
A 199mph supercar that is highly sought after, the 5.5litre V12-engined machine has a guide price of £160,000, and with values of this collectable model rising fast, it should make more when the hammer falls.
Four-Wheel Drive
The other Ferrari that will be leaving Jay Kay’s mouth-watering garage is a 2011 Ferrari FF. The Maranello marque’s first 4-wheel drive car, this is another model that is rapidly gaining in value and collectability, not least due to its rarity.
This technical tour de force is a machine like no other, offering astonishing grip and a top speed in excess of 200mph – not to mention sub 4-second 0-60mph acceleration.
The Jay Kay example is also finished in a subdued yet very attractive silver grey, and is again in top condition.
Managing Director of Silverstone Auctions Nick Whale said:
“We are delighted that Jay Kay has entrusted Silverstone Auctions once again with the sale of two cars from his private collection” and added:
“I encourage any serious Ferrari collector to contact Silverstone Auctions to arrange viewings of the incredible selection on offer”.
The FF has a guide price of £135,000 and, as with the 550 Maranello, we expect this highly desirable four-seat Ferrari to exceed that when It comes to auction.
