If you want your final journey to be done in style, how about this: A Rolls Royce Phantom VII that was once the property of X-Factor tycoon Simon Cowell has been turned into what must be the most stylish hearse around by A W Lymn, a family funeral directors in Nottingham.
Finished in stunning silver – as all the company’s hearses are – this Phantom VII was originally specified with a host of extras befitting the owner, including plus sheepskin rugs, a series of TV screens, and a bespoke champagne bar.
Fifth Phantom
The ex-Cowell example is Phantom VII number five to be added to the company fleet, with Managing Director Matthew Lymn Rose explaining:
“When I looked at this Rolls-Royce, it was clear that it would not be suitable as a funeral passenger vehicle due to the large champagne cooler in the back middle seat. It would, however, make an excellent chassis for a hearse.”
The car was converted by a coachbuilder in Italy, and now features a custom-built steel, leather and crystal glass coffin compartment that – thanks to the design of the Phantom VII – can handle any size of coffin plus flower arrangements.
Many Generations
Like Rolls Royce itself, A W Lymn has been at the forefront of its line of business for more than 100 years, and the current MD is the great, great grandson of the original founder.
The company is the largest established funeral services provider in the Midlands, and is the only such company running Rolls Royce Phantom VII hearses. It also provides more unusual funeral transport including a red London bus, a number of vintage and classic Rolls Royces, and a variety of horse-drawn hearses.
