If you want to try your hand at being a racing driver, you now have your chance! All you need to do is be one of the lucky few who purchase the new Lamborghini Urus STX Concept, developed by the Lamborghini Squadra Corse motor sport department, and you will be eligible to race in the world’s first single-model series for Super-SUV’s.
Mechanically optimised for the race track, and featuring all the required FIA upgrades and safety features such as the roll cage and fire-suppression systems, the URUS STX Concept was presented in a fetching green finish at the 2018 World Finals this weekend, with a view to the racer series going ahead in the 2020 season.
Visible Modifications
Compare the Urus STX Concept to the standard model and you’ll see several differences, starting with that unique to this model ‘Verde Mantis’ paint job. The car is 25% lighter than the production, road-going model and you will notice larger intakes for cooling when on the track. A carbon bonnet, racing exhaust system and a rear wing are also different to the standard Urus, as are the 21” single nut wheels.
Arrive and Drive
If you buy into the thrill of this innovative idea, all you need to do is present yourself for the race – they will take place on specially modified FIA approved circuits in Europe and the Middle East – and you will be treated to the full ‘Arrive and Drive’ package, which offers you technical and car support for the race weekend, courtesy of Squadra Corse. The idea of unique, one brand series has been pioneered in many cases, and proves a successful and affordable way for owners to take to some very exciting circuits in genuine competition.
With a track debut set to take place at the 2019 Lamborghini World Finals – the car is still in the development phase right now – we look forward to what must be the first racing series dedicated to an SUV, and all the excitement it is certain to bring.
