You’ve had that experience where you wait ages for a bus and then two come along at once? Well, this is the supercar equivalent – Supercartribe brings you news of two new Ferraris spotted by the ever-present spies and spotters at Fiorano and Maranello. At least, that’s what the rumours are saying.
The first is a car that’s been talked about for a few years now: the possible re-appearance of the Ferrari Dino. The Dino brand was originally created in the late 1960’s to promote a smaller-engined, less expensive Ferrari. The original – the Dino 206GT (and its later 246GT variant) is widely hailed as one of the most beautiful cars of all time.
Initially, the cars – named in honour of Enzo Ferraris son Dino, who died very young – wore only ‘Dino’ badging, but later models would be given Ferrari badges. What can we expect of the new Dino?
Hack Ferrari 488 Hybrid
For a long time, word has been that the new Dino would be launched with a V6 hybrid engine, and the Ferrari 488 that has been spotted around Maranello sports a variety of stickers warning of battery packs, and is befitted with strange wiring that is presumably for monitoring and data recording.
Clearly this is a hybrid powertrain in testing, and while a new Dino was ‘officially’ ruled out late last year in an interview with Ferrari commercial chief Enrico Galliera, he didn’t rule the possibility out. Galliera has long intimated that a cheaper, entry-level model is on the cards – could this be the engine that powers the new Dino? We’ll have to wait and see, and we’ll let you know if we hear any news.
Ferrari 812 GTO?
Also spotted at Fiorano is what may be a new version of the Ferrari 812 Superfast. Potentially a GTO version – as has been introduced with other models in the range – with possibly more power, perhaps carbon fibre panels and other mods, the car is possibly intended as an 812 for road and track use.
Looking mean and moody in black, the test car was filmed at Fiorano recently, and it would make sense for this model range to receive a higher performance model. Any advance in power and savings in weight would make the 812 more than impressive!
Ferrari has promised two new models this year, and while we believe the Dino may be seen a little further in the future than 2020, we certainly hope it happens. Keep up with the latest news at Supercartribe, where we simply love supercars!
