We’ve captured your attention with that headline! After all, a new Ferrari is always something special, and this one promises to be a revelation.
What do we know about it? Well, a few months back Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri stated that Ferrari would be unveiling a new mid-engined hybrid supercar later in the year; could this be the model that we now know is to be unveiled on Wednesday, 29th May?
It could be, so put that date in your diary. As was declared in the recent Ferrari financial statements, there will be no fewer than 5 new models from the Maranello factory this year. So far, we have seen the launch of the Ferrari F8 Tributo and the magnificent P80/C, so that leaves space for three more.
New Ferrari – Possible Hybrid Supercar
Given that we know Ferrari is dedicated to adding more hybrid technology to its range, and that there is a hybrid mid-engined supercar due to be launched, we reckon the 29th May launch may well be this vehicle.
Further clues are that there is a total ban on photography at the launch itself, and while the car will be unveiled at 11am, there is a strict image embargo in place until 19.00 CET that evening. This all hints at something very, very special indeed.
There is another thought that it could be a hypercar version of the Ferrari 488 Pista. If this is so, then we expect it to go head to head with the McLaren Senna, a thought that offers a great deal of promise.
That car, the McLaren Senna, is a hypercar of the highest order, with a top speed limited to 211mph (340km/h) and a 0-62mph (100km/h) sprint in an astonishing 2.8seconds. We expect any Ferrari challenger to attempt to beat these figures, and to match the advanced handling and specification of the McLaren.
Top of the Range?
We also have the word of Michael Leiters, Ferrari CTO, that the new hybrid mid-engined car will produce more power than the 488 Pista, will be the flagship model for Ferrari, and that they will begin deliveries to very lucky customers early in 2020.
All of these factors add up to the probable unveiling of a range-topping, mid-engined V8 hybrid Ferrari hypercar on the quoted date.
Keep an eye on SupercarTribe in the coming weeks, as we will bring you any further news as we get it!
