Undoubtedly one of the most iconic cars of the era, the Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona is a much sought-after beast in collector’s circles. This one – for sale with online auction house Bring a Trailer – is a fine example, having been carefully maintained over the years.
Finished in very unusual Giallo Dino – the colour it left the factory – this Daytona, chassis 14203, is largely original. All body panels retain their original number stamp, and all of the glass is also original as fitted.
The car is a North American specification model, having been delivered in 1971 to its first owner in Canada, and has spent time in different parts of the USA before finding its way to California.
Air Con and Full Spec
The Daytona is fitted with factory air-conditioning, which is presented in full working order, and a repaint has been carried out to a high specification. Panel gaps are also excellent, and it sits on correct in period Ruote Borrani 15” knock-off wire wheels, which give it that famous Daytona stance.
The seller states that the interior is as original as can be for a car that has covered 53,000miles, with some restoration to the front seat bolsters having been carried out. The rear cargo area is immaculate.
This Daytona has the stock 4.4Litre V12, with a factory-claimed 352bhp on tap, and has been subject to overhaul recently with new fuel pump, spark plugs and other items. It also had a new clutch a couple of years ago, and is fitted with an EZ power steering system for help at slow speeds.
A Fine Example
If you are in the market for a Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona, this is a fine example. The unusual colour suits the car well, it is bodily excellent and has been cared for mechanically, and comes with extensive maintenance and service records in a large history file.
At the time of writing, the asking price was a little over $500,000 which is about the right price for a Ferrari 365GTB/4 Daytona at present.
